Collecting Societies

YKCI is the oldest collecting society in Indonesia and is a member of the Confederation International des Societes des Auters at Compositeurs. YKCI administers, manages and distributes the collection of royalties for its members.

Those who are eligible to become YKCI members are composers, lyricists and sub-lyricists, arrangers, and publishers and sub-publishers, either local or international.

YKCI’s licensing executive carries out surveys to obtain information and data on use of music composed by YKCI members.  Notification letters are to those music users, enclosing forms and applications for licenses. YKCI’s licensing executive provides details on royalties that should be paid by music users.

The royalty rates applied to users are subject to Value Added Tax, while the royalty rates received by composers are subject to Income Tax.

Possible by law to have these rights cleared directly by the right holder without involving the Collecting Society?

Theoretically, it is possible to have these rights cleared directly by the right-holders. However, in practice, the right holders tend to authorize collecting societies.
